My name is Taylor and I am a sophomore at Florida State University. I am majoring in English, specifically, the Editing, Writing, and Media branch (EWM). My goal is to work as an editor/publisher for fiction books, hence, where I got the name Bookmark It for this blog! I have yet to choose a minor but fingers crossed I will think of something soon. I have always loved books, in fact, I used to get grounded from reading because I would get far too distracted and not do any of my chores or my homework. Any of you who do not believe me, trust me, I wish I were kidding. Remember that part in Beauty and the Beast where the beast gives Belle the library? Well, that has been a dream of mine ever since.  Besides reading, though, I also love art, I am self taught and started when I was very young. I made my own coloring books and everything. This is something I was not able to carry on to college but I will keep with me forever as a hobby.

When it comes to technology I do not have the most experience, I can do the basics but my education does not extend much further. In my middle school, however, my math teacher had a SMART board, which was a special board she could write on and she used to make it interactive for us. It was very useful for doing the problems she put up and she would allow us to come up to the board and use it as well. Recently, in my freshman year of college, I was introduced to iclickers. I used this in my biology class and it was used as a tool for attendance. The professor would put up a multiple choice question and we would respond using the four letters on the device. This was also useful to show the professor how we were doing and how well we were learning the information.

In my Introduction to Technology class, I hope to learn about a lot of new programs that are becoming more and more popular in school as well as in the work force. I know recently excel has started to become widely used and taught but I am unfamiliar with the software. There are other programs in addition to excel that I am sure I do not know the name of yet but will have to learn in the future and hope to learn in this course. This blog for example, is something new to me but I look forward to getting more comfortable with this technology.

Until next time,
Taylor :)

  2. I love reading and art too. My dream was to be an artist or a write...Not realized though...At least for a hobby someday. :-) I used to be disappeared and people found me reading a book quietly in a room. I also would love to have the huge library! So, I enjoyed working at the library when I was in college.
