Hello everyone! It is officially fall and I know we are all jumping to autumn with pumpkin spice lattes and festive decorations. This week we will continue our discussion on the benefits of technology in the classroom, digital natives, and Twitter.  Personally, I had a slow start with Twitter. I did not begin using it until my first semester in college when I had to use it to collaborate for my online English class. I found that I much preferred accounts like Instagram and Snapchat. I mostly retweeted or posted about my opinions on the latest politics, as relating to discourse. Throughout the semester, I mostly interacted with my classmates and teachers and news pages. However, I found this beneficial as it kept me up to date with the latest information going on in the world, while still keeping it relevant to the material I was learning. Happy fall everyone and welcome back! As I was reading the ELA standards for the different grade levels I was surprised by the curriculum that teachers follow. It seemed like the technology teachings had advanced even since my years in elementary school. Specifically, I looked into the standards of second grade teachings because if I were to be a teacher I feel like second grade would be fun to teach. Some of these included online poster and comic strip creators to show what they learned about the plot and characters from a story. Another includes online scavenger hunts or other tools to help children learn how to navigate and use electronic menus, subheadings, and indexes, ect. I feel as though the education I have now would make it possible for me to teach these to a class since I have worked with many of these things myself in school. Hello everyone! In this weeks blog we will be focusing on technology in the classroom. Throughout my educational experience, Microsoft Word has been one of my go-to programs for writing papers and constructing PowerPoints. I have become very familiar with it over the years and have found it to be the most convenient when it comes to writing essays for class. I mostly used Microsoft Word for writing papers, these papers were typically the standard MLA or APA format and had little to no color, design, or pictures throughout the text. Occasionally teachers would ask me to make posters for school activities or simply for a poster board project even. At this point I became more aquatinted with using the WordArt settings and copying and pasting photos as well as adding borders and other smaller details to make the poster more visually appealing.  Being that Microsoft Word is quite popular, my teachers suggested it quite often in school. Welcome back all! Today we will be discussing the roles teachers and students play when technology is involved in the classroom. First of all, what influences teachers and students to use technology in the classroom? Society has changed more and more with the passing years as new advancements in technology are made. Each new advancement has allowed for more convenience for people in their everyday lives. These advancements are used daily in our careers or in our homes. This means that in order for students to be successful they need to be familiar with all of this new technology. Students and teachers use technology for both convenience and for educational purposes. For example, SMART boards are common in classrooms as they allow for an easier way for educators to teach and a good way for students to become familiar with technology. Welcome to Bookmark It ! My name is Taylor and I am a sophomore at Florida State University. I am majoring in English, specifically, the Editing, Writing, and Media branch (EWM). My goal is to work as an editor/publisher for fiction books, hence, where I got the name Bookmark It for this blog! I have yet to choose a minor but fingers crossed I will think of something soon. I have always loved books, in fact, I used to get grounded from reading because I would get far too distracted and not do any of my chores or my homework.
